“When I’m dead and gone, I want my life’s work to live on, to still be seen, exhibited, listened to, enjoyed, talked about, thought about, inspire others. I want to at least give back that bit of inspiration, that wonder, that so many artists have given me, to pass it on, and not let it go fallow, but let it seed and sprout and bloom. I want to have credited a body of work that speaks to people, to the inside of people, to the mystery of people, to the unknown or forgotten parts of them, that makes them smile or shed a tear or just REMEMBER that they are alive, and being alive is beautiful”

B Joseph Valenzuela has been pouring his talents both artistically and musically into the Sacramento region for years. In 2003, B. graduated with a B.A. in Art Studio from Sacramento State University, and has been practicing his craft ever since. B’s motivation for his work is in the raw beauty of life, in things seen and unseen in the natural world. His conviction is that a healthy mind, body and spirit is the birth place to finding inspiration for his work and clarity on the canvas. When he’s not painting, or studying his muse, B. finds time to nurture his other passion, music. B takes the same approach to his songs that he does on the canvas. Every layer, every verse, every note is strategically calibrated with specific purpose. Having recorded and toured nationally with his band, B has lately been concentrating his efforts solely on painting. Recently, he’s further broadened his artistic talent, by creating images through integrating his own written words into the canvas. This “word art” has been developing for the last 5 years and is morphing still with each new painting. . |
